Have you seen my dog, Lucy? She is super cute. Am I right or am I right? Hint: I am right.
I was never a chihuahua girl. I grew up with german shepards, which is pretty much as far from chihuahuas as you can get. But Lucy Dog came along with Jeff and I sort of fell for both of them. She's a sweet little thing, that Lucy.
I worried that Lucy Dog would be super jealous when we brought a baby home but she was the exact opposite. She's incredibly protective of Scarlette, to the point where she may have tried to bite a home nurse who made Scarlette scream when she stuck her with a needle. I will neither confirm nor deny this due to the fact that I prefer not to be, you know, sued. After that Lucy got to hang out in the bedroom and bark at the door when the nurses came to visit. She still is not fond of people other than Jeff and I picking Scarlette up, actually.
They are best buddies now, probably because Scarlette can't use her utensils very well and so half of her meal ends up at her feet, where Lucy Dog lies in wait to lap it up. They've got a sneaky little game going on now where Scarlette feeds Lucy Dog things she doesn't want to eat, like green beans, when she thinks we are not looking. It's terrible in terms of things like "following directions" and "table manners" but it's also ridiculously cute.
Here's a fun video from ALPO'S HOMEPAGE because we also feed our dog, you know, dog food and not just toddler leftovers.
ALPO®'s wet dog food line has lots of choices for aging dogs like Lucy Dog. And Lucy Dog seems pretty happy about the options. I mean, granted she's a dog so her palette might not be as refined as mine. You know, the girl who sometimes sneaks a package of candy cigarettes. Purely for nostalic purposes.
