October is one of my favorite months because here in the south we celebrate the crisp air and changing colors with an abundance of caramel apples and fall festivals. Seriously, you can go to a fall festival every single weekend here in October. And so I do because CORN MAZES AND FUNNEL CAKES, Y’ALL. This is much less awkward now that I have a toddler and am not the only thirty-something riding around on the kiddie hayride. It’s a bit chillier outside and so Sears sent me on a mission to find some fashionable fall looks as part of their #ThisIsStyle sponsored shop.
So armed with a stroller, a super cute assistant, and a pumpkin spice latte (because nothing says “fall fashion” like pumpkin spice latte as an accessory) I headed to the mall.
What I really wanted was a pair of toffee colored buttery soft leather riding boots. Sadly, the shoe section at my Sears is way too small. They carry a lot more online but when it comes to shoes, this girl needs to try them on first. So I meandered towards the sweaters because it’s possible that someone who shall remain nameless tossed my favorite gray sweater in the dryer and now it basically fits my two year old.
It’s also possible that I really should watch more closely when I let said two year old take the clothes out of the washer and throw them in the dryer because I also found a shoe and a roll of Minnie Mouse stickers in there.
(SHE IS SO STEALTHY, Y’ALL!)
I ended up with a gray knit sweater to replace my ruined one which isn’t super trendy but is sort of my “Mom Uniform” for things like “Toddler Gymnastics Class.” It’s so easy to throw it on with a button down shirt and add a scarf or some chunky jewelry so it doesn’t look like you just totally stepped out of 1998.
(I wonder what my neighbors think when they see me faux-modeling on my front porch in front of the blanket we just had a picnic on.)
This is how to get the look, it’s one part sweater, one part toddler photobomb.
(Seriously, I asked Jeff to take some pictures and she ran over yelling “I BE IN DA PISHURE WIF MY MOMMY!” and then posed like that. It was adorable and also made me laugh so hard that I look extra awkward so thanks for that, Scarlette.)
I also picked up a 3/4 length coral button down shirt because I really liked the color but once I got home I decided it was a little too boxy on me. And by “boxy” I mean, I am not busty enough to fill it out. I was distracted from noticing this in the dressing room on account of how Scarlette was all “TOUCHING ALL THE THINGS!”
Both items together came to less than $30 and because I had shopped at Sears a few times this summer (like here, where my hair looks way better) I had some Shop Your Way Rewards credits (which is basically similar to a cash-back rewards program) that I was able to put to towards it, so I paid $16 for the sweater and the button down.
Buying my fall fashion haul meant that I earned more Shop Your Way Rewards. I used them to buy these candy corn lights to wrap around our porch stair railings because A) they are cute and B) our streetlight is out and I don’t want any little children falling down our steps in the dark during their pursuit of candy.
They were all out in store so I ordered them online and they have not yet arrive but you can imagine in your head that candy corn lights are real cute, right? Here, I’ll show you. They’re real cute. AND BASICALLY FREE.
Sweet, right? No pun intended. Just kidding. I’m talking about candy corn lights. That pun was totally intended.

(This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own. I mean, obviously they weren’t like “go buy a shirt and then decide you don’t have a big enough chest to fill it out, KA!”)
