Five For Friday: Really Important Thoughts On American Idol

 
1) It really bugs me when contestants get a poor critique from the judges and then respond "Oh well, I just wanted to get out there and have fun." No you didn't. It's a singing competition. You wanted to get out there, sing the best, and have the judges love it. If you just wanted to have fun you wouldn't be on American Idol, you'd be hitting up a karaoke bar.

This phrase causes me to yell at the television because not one of them sat around backstage going "Hmmm, I could give a really great performance tonight OR I could totally suck but have a lot of fun!"

2) The Ford commercials. Enough said.

3) If I were told that Miley Cyrus was going to critique my singing, I would think I was on an episode of Punked.

4) Related: who let Miley Cyrus go on national television dressed like that? Again I ask you, what are her parents thinking? Do you think that anyone has ever told them that she is only sixteen?

5) Since the start of the show this season I've gotten numerous emails/twitter/facebook/blog comments from people who think I look like Didi Benami. Then I went to dinner with my girlfriends, where Tiff begins with "KA, have you been watching American Idol this season?" To which I respond "I do not look like that girl." Tiff then tells me that she and her husband think that I do, which prompts all of us to look up pictures of her on the internet and cast our vote. Jeff and I finally agree that I do, but only when I'm all made up and blonde, like in my wedding pictures.

But yesterday at CVS, the girl checking me out made mention of it, and I'm not even blonde right now. I hope that she gets famous and people mistake me for her and give me lots of free things. Didi Benami, I mean, not the girl at CVS. Unless she wants to be famous, then you know, more power to her.
