I had a few formal events recently and I like to wear slips under my dresses. Or, well, it’s not that I like to. It’s that I am very southern and feel weirdly exposed without a slip on under my dresses. Which is why I agreed to try out the new Jockey Skimmies® slipshorts, because they are slips that are shorts. Has anyone told the Duggar girls about these? Because I feel as though they would really love them.
I have the unfortunate problem of being incredibly small statured. As in, seriously the junior high girls at church are all taller than me. The problem with this is that I can no longer buy my clothes in junior’s section on account of how I am a thirty year old mother and that really just looks ridiculous. Plus, try to buy shorts in the juniors section. Those things are like, an inch and a half long. Note to shorts makers: be a little more generous with the fabric, please. There is also the tiny issue about how I had a baby and afterwards my bum sort of slid down onto my thighs, which altogether really makes shopping for shorts quite difficult.
It is way too hot in the summer in the south to wear pants so I mostly just wear casual cotton skirts and dresses to combat the whole shorts problem. This worked fine until I was chasing a toddler all around and constantly needing to bend over. The Jockey Skimmies® slipshorts are really comfortable but also give me an added layer of modesty.
I actually purchased myself another pair after trying the ones that Jockey sent over because I liked them so much that they are definitely a wardrobe essential for me. I picked up the anti-wicking version because they call this place HOTLANTS for a reason, y’all. I wore them under all my fancy dresses at Mom 2.0 to keep from having the dreaded VPL and I wear them often under my casual skirts for every day outings like Toddler Ballet Class. I also tried to rock a side ponytail to Toddler Ballet Class this week. Kelly Kapowski I am not. Speaking of famous people, Rachel Zoe is the spokesperson for these and in her words “I DIE.”
I mean, when they first approached me about trying out the Jockey Skimmies® slipshorts I was all “NO THANK YOU” because I thought it might be awkward to talk about my undergarments on the internet. And because I thought they were those things that smush everything in to be all constricting and I don’t like those things. But they are not like that at all, they are incredibly sleek and lightweight. And let’s be honest, I’m already awkward on the internet and at least this way everyone knows that I DO wear undergarments, despite my child’s fondness for telling absolute strangers that I don’t.
(Also, these are what reside in my unmentionables drawer. Not Jesus. I really don’t know what her Sunday School teachers think I am teaching her at home.)
You can learn all about the collection here and here is a little video I made with all my thoughts about the Jockey Skimmies® slipshorts, Princess Kate and why I wish I was friends with Andy Samberg.
And the reason Jockey asked me to share this with y’all is because: “this spring (May 27 – June 20), Jockey will challenge America to “Seize the Day in Skimmies®” and expand their comfort zones with a series of fun and fashionable daily challenges using the hashtag #SkimmiesPromo. Everyone who participates will have a chance to win a free pair of Skimmies® slipshorts and other great prizes.” You can get all the details on challenge rules, prizes and entry here: www.facebook.com/Jockey
