Things are short and sweet around here lately as I am using up all my words to finish writing my first book. And all of the rest of my words to explain to my three year old why we do not take things out of our friend’s hands and about how Lucy Dog does not want to pull a sleigh behind her and that yes, I know she is pretending Lucy Dog is Sven The Reindeer but we still can’t try to force her to wear earmuffs even though they do make very good pretend antlers.
But I also write for a few other places on the web and wanted to share a few pieces that I’ve written elsewhere lately:
This month I wrote about Celebrating Your Preemie’s Homecoming Day for Hand To Hold. I shared a little bit about our own family traditions, how her birthday is still a bit bittersweet, and why celebrating that particular day is so special to us. You can read the article here.
For Father’s Day I wrote this piece called The Story of My Dad and My Daughter about how my relationship with my father changed after I had a baby and expressing my gratitude for his role in my life as a father and as a grandfather to my daughter. This one was really special to me. Plus, I think my dad liked it 🙂 You can read it here.
And this month Mothers of Daughters reprinted a piece I wrote last year called Altogether Beautiful: A Love Letter For The Girl Who Thinks She’s Ugly which details my struggle with self esteem and self worth growing up. It is one of the most vulnerable pieces I have ever written and I have been honored to see how much it as been shared across social media and received with such love. You can read it here.
And as always, thanks for visiting here where I make a home for my words and for all your support in sharing them as I wildly follow this dream of writing.
