Almost every single day as we get dressed Scarlette asks me “Um, so can I just be baeuh foot today?” Then she runs around barefoot in the yard until the sun sets and I have to push the wash cloth between her toes while she giggles and sings “EBERYBODY YE-AH WASH YOUR BODY YE-AH!” because her feet are filthy and because The Backstreet Boys make for perfect bathtime songs. See here.
This summer has been a little bit crazy. My husband has been working some intense shifts, swinging between days and nights, and have you ever tried to keep a three year old quiet so someone can sleep during the day? Actually, have you ever tried to keep Scarlette quiet at all? Because let me tell you, it is basically a job in and of itself. This child never slows down.
We’ve been filling our days with the free summer movies and learning to swim (the both of us because of, you know, this) and blackberry picking so writing actual blog posts has been a bit sporadic. And I’m trying to finish writing a book so it’s likely they will continue to be sporadic on account of time and three year olds and southern summer barefoot blue jean nights.
(I really love that song.)
(But not as much as I love The Backstreet Boys.)
And now I need more coffee.
