I am so excited to be guest pinning for Carter’s on their Tomboy Chic board this month! I partnered with Carter’s to shop for Scarlette’s fall wardrobe and share a coupon code + gift card giveaway with y’all!
Here is a peek at everything we purchased, because it was a very fun excuse to have a fun dance party/photo shoot. Plus it was raining and we had already exhausted all of our indoor activities by ten forty three in the morning. For size reference, Scarlette is 3 years old, just under 3 feet tall and weighs 26 pounds. All of the pants/skirts are size 18 months and the tops are all 24 months or 2T.
My approach to shopping for Scarlette is to buy everything to coordinate so I can easily mix and match patterns and get the most out of her wardrobe without buying a lot of pieces. Because I hate laundry and because kids grow faster than my budget. I stick to about four favorite brands when I shop for her, one of which is Carter’s, because their clothes are cute and affordable (that floral top is $5!) but mostly because they hold their value well. I keep a few sentimental pieces from each season to be made into a quilt in a couple of years and then the rest of her clothes get sorted for donation and the bi-annual consignment sales I participate in.
At three, Scarlette is getting very particular about her clothes. I browsed online before heading to the store and had picked out all of these cute dresses I wanted to get for her. And APPARENTLY someone doesn’t wear dresses anymore. Because every time I held up a dress she said “Um, no fank you. I don’t wike dat dress. I just want some shirts. And a pink skirt.” One of the big themes for fall style at Carter’s is “Tomboy Chic” and so obviously my child knows more about fashion than I do. I once wore a catsuit to school in junior high UNIRONICALLY so this should surprise exactly no one.
Honestly she will likely wear these sneakers (which I had to order online and aren’t here yet) and leggings almost every day to preschool. Sneakers for playground time and leggings on account of how jeans are kind of tricky when you are three years old and need to go potty. Plus there is that whole thing about how wearing size 18 month pants when you are three means that you’re constantly rocking high waters.
I let Scarlette pick out several of her outfits and she asked for this bunny rabbit shirt because her best friend Cora likes bunny rabbits. One of the things I love most about Carter’s is that their clothes are stylish but still age appropriate. I mean, she’s still my baby. I much prefer she rock a shirt with bunny rabbits than one with lipstick imprints.
And we just always end up with a lot of these sweatshirt style tunic because they are easy and comfortable. Scarlette prefers to hike up one leg because it feels good to be a gangsta.

Shopping in store meant that I earned Carter’s rewards, which are $10 for every $50 spent, so I’ll take my rewards back in and buy her a few pair of pajamas from the fall- I spied a couple of cute sets on the clearance rack along with the set of coordinating hair bows I picked up for two dollars. Typically when I shop online at Carter’s I go through Ebates first to earn cash back and then I use a coupon code, like this one that Carter’s provided for you to shop with! Everything online is 40% off from July 17-August 5 and then you can use this coupon on top of that! (It is also good in stores if you want to earn some rewards when you shop.) You can follow the Carter’s Pinterest board that I am guest pinning for this month here! (I took these photos in front of an inexpensive paper backdrop that I taped to my wall with removable poster strips. You can see the full tutorial here, it was surprisingly super easy and fun to do! Plus there are some fun outtakes from this little photoshoot.)
