Here are a few of my favorite things around the web this week:

- I love following the facebook page Humans Of New York. Part of it is the sociology major in me, I am so interested in community and culture. And part of it is that I am always moved by how the simple act of sharing a life story, even a small part of it, creates such a large portion of the human connection. This one, in particular, left me completely undone.
. - I love this Mother + Daughter series by Elise. Brilliant.
. - Someone asked me on Instagram if I could recommend some clean young adult books for teenagers. I plan on doing a full post with my favorites soon but I highly recommend the Katie Parker series by Jenny B. Jones. The first book is free for kindle right now. This particular series is a Christian series but really very well done. I imagine that if I wrote fiction, I would want it to be like this.
. - Root Beer Float Cupcakes. I just can’t even. I need these in my house immediately.
. - I’ve written about how much we love Kiwi Crate, which is a subscription box filled with educational projects/crafts for kids. Scarlette received a subscription as a gift and she geeks out over it every time a box comes. Kiwi Crate is currently offering a free trial, so you can do a project with your little one and see if a subscription is a good fit for your family. I think they make for great gifts, it is really nice to have something unexpected to do with her on rainy days (and you know I’m all about the fewer toys, the better. For encouraging imaginative play and also on account of my deep hatred of housekeeping.)
. - Setting a custom white balance on your DSLR. I have been practicing this because it is really helpful for indoor photography and I wanted to get some decent lighting for the photoshoot we did the other day. I haven’t mastered it yet but I am making improvement, slowly but surely. I mean, I have come a really long way since the photos from my fancy camera looked like this.
