My daughter is in preschool this year and so teacher gifts are on our holiday gift giving list this year. So when Dollar General asked me if I thought I could create a holiday gift basket for $10 or less, I was all “I totally can do that!” Because A) our teachers specifically asked for classroom supplies and school supplies are a purchase that can be made fairly inexpensively and B) because I am incredibly competitive. Please see: Adventures In Rock Climbing. I was Rocky and Dollar General was my set of incredibly long stairs to conquer.
I decided to make Mason Jar Crayon Holders, which are basically the easiest thing to make ever. The steps include putting crayons in a mason jar and putting sparkly ribbon around the lid. You’re welcome for the detailed tutorial. Actually, you can watch me make it in fast-forward speed in the little video below.
Here is a little video of everything that I purchased (including some really beautiful ornaments for $1 and a mug for ONE PENNY that is pretty much the best mug ever) and how I made the gift basket:
And here is what it looked like after!
I ended up spending exactly $10 on the gift, on account of how I let my four year old choose something special to add to it and she chose a $1 tube of Hershey flavored lip balm. She has good taste, that one. No pun intended.
