Answers to the rest of all of life's burning questions.
Mandie asked: Why don't you guys live closer to me?
KA says: Because someone in this marriage has a bad habit of throwing away very useful things any time we move. Like, say, all of our pots and pans. And someone else in this marriage can't handle that. Thus, we are never moving again.
Stephanie and Laura asked: What's the best handmade Christmas gift you've ever given or received?
KA says: My then-fiance-now-husband wrote me a song. I've been bugging him for years to let me share it here.
Jeannie asked: Penguins? Or otters?
KA says: Otters, definitely. Unless I was having a dinner party. Then penguins.
Vanessa asked: I know you dont cook, so what is your favorite hot snack to eat?
KA says: Baked Caramel French Toast, as made by Jody. Thank me for that recipe later.
Elaine asked: Here's my
question. Does your husband mind your blogging about him? Here's
another one – who do you get your sense of humor from, Mom or Dad?
KA says: Jeff and I have some agreements about what I can and can not blog about it. I can only recall one time he didn't like something I'd written and since then I try to stick to lighthearted things when putting our relationship up for public consumption. My sense of humor comes from both of my parents, specifically I believe it manifested itself during the year they put me in jazz class. I blame that for the way I've turned out.
Jen asked: What kind of toothpaste do you use and why?
KA says: Aquafresh IsoActive. It is really foamy. And it comes in a can that looks like shaving gel. Which can be very confusing on the days you shave your legs. And Crest Pro Health tastes like hot dogs. I don't know how anyone can use that stuff.
Dani asked: Are you thinking about traveling during holidays?
KA says: I'd love to but I have no time off. I'm going to pretend I'm going on a cruise. Meaning, I'm going to sit around my house and say things like "Ahoy Matey" and "Thar She Blows." Also, I apparently think that going on a cruise automatically makes you a pirate.
Megan asked: HOW did you get to be so hilariously funny??
KA says: I don't actually think I'm a funny person. I think I'm much funnier in writing. This is a very unfunny answer.
Barb asked: do people ever think your sense of humor is strange?
KA says: All the time. I think I see life differently than other people. I think everything is funny and I love it when situations are awkward and I think that the weird joy I take in that makes other people thing I'm totally strange.
Jodi asked: How about, what is your most favorite, prized, and beloved craft creation?
KA says: This page. It has my grandmother's handwriting on it.
Tobi asked: Do you love your pupperoni?
KA says: I love how cute she it. I do not love cleaning up her accidents or being woken up at 5am. And yet I still think it'd be a great idea to get pregnant. I'm very logical.
Becca asked: Do you really love your snuggie? And also, are you having a good hair day?
KA says: Yes. I really like shuffling across the carpet while wearing the snuggie and then touching Jeff. I was having a great hair day until I accidentally dyed it red. No photographic evidence of this exists.
Dee asked: do you mind being 5 feet tall?
KA says: Only when I want to buy a bottle of Arbor Mist and can't reach and ask the old man in the aisle to get me a bottle and he gives me a lecture about how NO HE WILL NOT BUY ALCOHOL FOR THE UNDERAGED.
Jessica asked: What is your favorite Christmas tradition and why?
KA says: Opening a single present on Christmas Eve. It's so fun to pick just the right present. Except for that one year when I was eight and I got a hat rack. What was that about mom and dad?
Amy asked: how do
you find the energy to live such a creative life? You just spill over
with creative energy…don't you ever get tired? 🙂
KA says: Jeff calls me his 90 pound ball of energy. The truth is, my housekeeping suffers. I SHOULD mop the floor but instead I'm making garlands out of painted cotton balls for no good reason at 2 am.
Lillian asked: If you had to choose between meeting the cast of Twilight OR attending an Adam Lambert concert, which would you choose?
KA says: Adam Lambert. I prefer the cast of Twilight that I created in my head after reading the book, whereas I'm just downright crazy about Adam Lambert because he is like a boy Britney Spears.
Renee asked: how and why did you start all this?
KA says: I'm not sure if you mean the blog or not, but I started it because some dude broke my heart and I thought I'd write about it on the internet because doesn't everyone spill every sordid detail of their breakups on the internet? No? Just me? Right.
Melissa asked: whats your favorite thing about your new house? And what projects do you still want to do to spruce it up?
KA says: The balcony. I want to paint all the kitchen cabinets cupboards but I am cowering in fear at the idea.
Elsa asked: So I wonder, do you think Christmas decorations have to be red and green exclusively?
KA says: NO! Ours are all brown, gold and ivory. We got married at Christmas so I use our wedding decorations at Christmas and then have butterflies in my tummy all season.
Jill asked: What do you think the biggest risk (decorating) is that you took in your new house?
KA says: Telling Jeff he could decorate the master bedroom however he wanted. It turned out to be a very lovely space. There is a pirate ship in there.
Heather asked: are you going to purchase Pioneer Woman's new cookbook?
KA says: No. I am going to put it on my Christmas list and hope someone else buys it for me, because I'm all about letting other people experience the joy of giving me presents.
Christy asked: How is the house coming along? Do we get to see some more before and after pictures soon?
KA says: Slowly. I have to clean my house to take before and after pictures. And we all know how I feel about cleaning. Plus, I just need a few more things to finish it, things that are currently gracing my Christmas list rather than my living room!
