So the other day I was standing in the bathroom with Scarlette when all of the sudden a lightbulb exploded and glass shattered down on us. Or me, actually, because at first I didn’t exactly know what was happening and so I just picked Scarlette up real quick and threw her into the bedroom to get her out of the way.
Which was an extraordinarily courageous act of motherhood if you ask me but according to Scarlette it scarred her for life. I know this because she has told everyone since “My mommy FROWED me and it is NOT NICE TO FROW PEOPLE.”
(Thanks for THAT life lesson, Frozen.)
Anyhow, later that night around ten o’clock J and I both walked into the kitchen and saw this happening:
Yes, that IS our oven door. SHATTERING.
And because I am highly logical and not at all prone to overreacting I was all “GET ME OUT OF THIS HOUSE RAT NAO!” because seriously, the sound of glass shattering was incredibly eerie. Plus glass had randomly shattered on me once already that day and it was all feeling a little too reminiscent of a certain poltergeist movie for me to be at all logical.
That’s why I went in Scarlette’s room, scooped her up and moved her to a different room. Because there is a big, glass chandelier in her bedroom and once I start having a moment of irrational anxiety there is no talking me down. I mean, J was trying to sweetly convince me that everything was fine and he was like “So you know that her chandelier isn’t going to spontaneously shatter though, right?” And I was all “ASK ME THAT TOMORROW, RIGHT NOW I’M AFRAID OF ALL THE GLASS THINGS.”
So far nothing else has broken but I’m a little weary of standing near the windows at the moment.
And apparently I’m also in the market for a new oven and I have never actually shopped for an oven before so I would love some recommendations. Preferably one known for having doors that do not randomly shatter in the middle of the night.
