This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Getaways. All opinions are 100% mine.
Remember when I asked for advice on where we should visit in Europe? In the end J said that I could decide and so after much deliberation I settled on the second place that he has always wanted to visit, which also happens to be on my travel bucket list.
And then I called him at the office and was all “Grab your passport and my hand because we’re going to Ireland next weekend.”
Literally.
Y’ALL. WE’RE GOING TO BE IN IRELAND FOR SAINT PATRICK’S DAY.
This is such a dream come true for us.
We’re really lucky to have several amazing family members whom we can trust and are willing to take Scarlette in and also stay at our house to watch Lucy Dog for us to be able to do this. (Lucy Dog does not do well leaving our house in her old age, poor pup.)
Also, I need more advice on account of how I have exactly three days to pack for this trip.
The booking process with Groupon Getaways was really easy. Once you’ve purchased the Groupon, you receive a confirmation email with instructions. I just called the number and chatted with the travel agent who helped me switch our flights to be out of our airport versus JFK and sent over all of the travel vouchers once I gave her my confirmation code.
We ended up choosing the Ireland Bed and Breakfast package so that we could experience Ireland at our own pace and immerse ourselves in the local culture. Right now, our trip will take us from Drohegda down to Cork and Dingle and then back up to Dublin.
So if you’ve ever been to Ireland I would absolutely love to hear your input on what we should see and do and also pack!
I’m thrilled about this opportunity because y’all, my husband works so hard for our family. He is on call 24/7, there is hardly a night or weekend that goes by that his work phone isn’t ringing after he’s already put in a long week. I was so excited that his office let him to move his schedule around to accompany me on this trip and am ridiculously grateful that my love of writing will allow me to share such an incredible experience with him.
I am also incredibly nervous about things like: flying, flying over the ocean, driving on the wrong side of the road, wanting to kiss the Blarney Stone but also being deathly afraid of heights and leaving Scarlette to travel (or just at all because I still have some PTSD about leaving her in general.)
So wish me luck on all THAT and give me your best travel advice! The second trip I will be doing with #MyGrouponGetaway will be a mommy/daughter trip to Chattanooga. I chose that one because it is within driving distance and there are a lot of family-friendly activities to do with her in that city. I think it will be good for us to get to have some quality time together after my being away for awhile.
But until then, follow along with me on Instagram because I will be sharing our adventure there!
