I am awake right now, at 4:45 am, because of thunder. The thunder made me realize that it was raining. And the rain made me remember that I had not shut the sunroof on my car, mostly because I never shut the sunroof on my car. It’s a problem. So I got up to go shut said sunroof before everything got drenched again only when I stumbled outside I discovered that I had, in fact, already shut the sunroof. I can’t even.
So then I made some coffee and decided to write down everything that was in my head before the day started. You. Are. Welcome.

At church on Sunday my pastor preached on pride, and specifically on issues of pride that can be difficult for women as they raise children. One of the examples he used was about housekeeping and how it can hinder hospitality to obsess over having a perfectly clean home
And I elbowed J in the ribs and was all NOPE.
I mean, like, I AM DOING SO SUPER EXCELLENT AT NOT BEING PRIDEFUL IN THAT AREA.
(There might be irony there but I can’t see over the pile of dirty dishes to spot it.)

A few weeks ago I was at my friend Breanna’s house and she had music playing in the background. So after awhile I stopped and said “What station do you have on? Because I have liked literally every single song that has played so far and I feel like that is something that is rare and mysterious.”
She said “Oh, it’s the Taylor Swift inspired Pandora channel.”
And I was like “OF COURSE IT IS.”

I was in Nashville last weekend and forgot about how everyone in Nashville looks like they just stepped off the set of Nashville. I was standing in the middle of a restaurant looking around and thinking “I feel as though I needed to go through hair and makeup before dinner.” Unfortunately for me, I do not keep hair and makeup people at my beck and call. And also Nashville humidity makes my hair grow real big.
Earlier that day we filmed a trailer for my new book and the camera guy was all “We should probably take care of those fly-aways” while gesturing to my head. And I was like “Oh good sir, those are not so much flyaways as they are all the strands of my hair expanding before your eyes despite my valiant efforts with a can of aerosol hairspray to battle today’s level of humidity. There is to be no victory here.”

The 6 hour long Pride and Prejudice featuring Colin Firth is the best Pride and Prejudice.

Lately I’ve been really into listening to podcasts while I work. I love Elise Gets Crafty and The Art of Simple. And I’d love to find a great women’s devotional type podcast.
What are some of your favorite podcasts to listen to?
