This post was written in partnership with Luvs because I’ve got a baby in diapers, y’all.
I was pregnant with Ridley at the same time as four of my good friends. I encourage this because now my baby has built-in friends and I don’t have to go to any of those awkward mom meet ups to try and meet people with babies like I did when I had Scarlette. And we all know how that turned out.
The first photo is from my baby shower and the second is from a morning at my local MOPS group. At the time I didn’t know what I was having and then all ended up having baby boys!
There are a few things you can take away from this picture:
One, we make very cute babies.
Two, don’t drink the water at my MOPS group.
And three, I am very good at looking at the camera when someone is taking my picture. Except the opposite of that.
When Luvs emailed me and asked if I had any friends with babies and would I like to host a brunch and give them all gift bags full of diapers, I was like, STOP. COLLABORATE AND LISTEN.
Because I have a lot of friends with babies and also I live in the South. Brunch is basically what we do.
And also, I enjoy bestowing coffee and diapers on my friends like I am some sort of maternal Oprah.
So then I started preparing a brunch for all my new mom friends, which basically was made up of every sort of pumpkin pastry available for purchase at Trader Joe’s and copious amounts of Starbucks. What, you thought I was going to cook brunch? I haven’t slept through the night in seven months. I did manage bacon and eggs because we all just had babies and are constantly starving but mostly I’m just fueled by caffeine these days.
Then we all took pictures with our babies. Our babies were not fond of this.
At first I was like, “Oh, let’s lay all our babies in a circle and take a picture from above!”
“IT WILL BE SO CUTE, ” I said. “LIKE ANNE GEDDES,” I said.
Nailed it.
The theme of the party was #WhatULuv and we had these cute little whiteboard speech bubbles to write what we loved on. I am obsessed with these speech bubbles. Prepare to seem them often in the future.
Scarlette and I love Ridley. Ridley is unimpressed by everything in life. He loves mama’s milk. I know this because he demands it at all hours of the night.
We all decided that we all just love our babies. Titus was the only baby who indulged us in smiling at the camera. You go, Glen Coco. Amelia snuck in as our first baby girl a couple months after all these guys were born. She’s going to be surrounded by little gentlemen.
Each guest left with a gift bag full of Luvs new Ultra Leakguards with Nightlock Plus™ diapers, a sippy cup, and a Starbucks gift card.
My friend Devon mentioned that she was excited because she already uses Luvs and asked me if I used them or if the party was my first time trying them. And I was all “No, I love them! No pun intended.” The day Luvs emailed me I had literally just bought an entire case that morning. “We have found two brands that work for Ridley,” I told her, “and one of them is Luvs.”
At first I just put him in a brand that I had used when Scarlette was a baby and maybe it’s because he’s a boy but they did not work for him at all. And by that I mean that I was constantly getting tinkled on. One of my MOPS friends told me to try Luvs and they worked really well for us.
(Did you know that Luvs has a 100% money back guarantee? If you aren’t satisfied with the leakage protection of Luvs, they’ll refund your money. I did not know this! If the brand I was formerly using had offered that I would have totally gotten all my money back because I was changing my clothes like, three times a day.)
(Plus, I like the refastenable tabs because Scarlette has just started to want to help change the baby’s diaper and that is such a sweet big sister moment, but I always have to secretly refasten the tabs.)
We had a great time over brunch. In addition to getting to try out the new Luvs diapers, it was so nice to just enjoy a relaxing morning with my mom friends. These girls are all really special to me and I’m so happy for Ridley to grow up alongside their children.
I hope that our babies grow up to enjoy the same fruitful friendships that we have.
