Y’all, the super hard people to buy for in your life? You know, the ones that you still haven’t bought anything for because you’re so stumped? Like say, your mother-in-law? (I’m just guessing, my mother-in-law is delightful but I HAVE HEARD STORIES.) Anyhow, I have such a great last-minute gift idea for you.
A few months ago GiftLit contacted me and asked me to curate a collection of faith-based and inspirational books called The Scarlette Collection.
Do you even know how excited I was about this? It’s like I was in a real life version of You’ve Got Mail.
The centerpiece of the collection is a copy of my book Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected signed by both myself and Scarlette, which was such a special thing for us that she really, really, REALLY wants to tell you about:
I was so thrilled to put this collection together because I love GiftLit and books are one of my favorite gifts to give. Also, look at me and little Lettie hanging out on the nonfiction page, just above Sheryl Sandberg. Can I count that as one degree of seperation?
GiftLit is a monthly book subscription service, so each month you (or the person you gift a subscription to) get a new book in the mail! I mean, literally everyone likes to get mail. And I am a little biased but I think this collection is one of the best gift ideas ever, second only to a Red Rider BB Gun.
The titles in The Scarlette Collection are books that have touched my life, anchoring me when I felt adrift with their pages of hope-filled encouragement and infusing my life with laughter. For this collection I chose titles that I thought would be inspiring, uplifting, and full of hope and humor to bless the woman who receives them.
You can choose to do a 3 month or 6 month subscription. I typically choose the 3 month option for a gift subscription. And if you or your gift recipient already has one of the books in the collection, you can simply click the “change book” button to swap it out for a different book!
In the 3 month subscription for The Scarlette Collection I included:
Month One: A signed copy of Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected. Anchored is heartfelt, hope-filled, and humorous and I think it is an encouraging read about overcoming adversity, uncovering your confidence, and the journey of motherhood.
Month Two: Giddy Up, Eunice by Sophie Hudson. I chose Giddy Up, Eunice because it is a touching but totally funny book about friendship, which I think will serve women well. It’s a nice tribute to the kindred women in your life.
Month Three: Bread & Wine by Shauna Niequist. I have to admit, I judged this book by the cover and assumed that it wasn’t for me because as y’all know, the kitchen is not my forte. But several friends strongly recommended it and turns out, it is one of my favorite books ever. It is such a freedom-filled, inspirational book that will have you making positive changes to your life.
In the six month subscription for The Scarlette Collection, I included the first three books above plus:
Month Four: Nobody’s Cuter Than You by Melanie Shankle. I love Melanie Shankle as an author. Her books are light, funny, and meaningful and this book about the joy of friendship is a sweet book to share with someone you love.
Month Five: The Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner. I included The Fringe Hours because it is a permission slip for self-care and full of helpful tips for carving out time in our busy schedules for the things that are important. It’s a great, empowering message for women.
Month Six: One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I chose this one because I think it’s message of “a dare to live fully right where you are” is deeply needed by women. It is a book that was life changing to me. It’s one that I reference often and I think it will be incredibly uplifting to anyone who reads it.
GiftLit sends their books beautifully packaged with a gift card printed with your personalized gift message and a bookplate! You can also personalize the bookplates for each book with a special message or sweet sentiment for your recipient to enjoy every time the book is opened.
I designed this pretty 5×7 card that you can print out and give to the person who you are gifting a subscription to so that they have something fun to open before their books begin to arrive in their mailbox!
