A quick medical update for friends and family.
This month feels like progress. First, we got orders that we could discharge both the apnea monitor and the suction machine. That day? Was awesome. I never want to see a suction machine again in my life.
After that it was the infamous trip to the eye doctor, where we got the news that her vision is progressing wonderfully.
And then we went to the cardiologist, which is never a fun appointment as Scarlette believes that getting her blood pressure taken is the equivalent of repeatedly stabbing oneself in the arm. Basically, she screams like a banshee. Plus, she is super fond of pulling off the EKG wires each time they stick them on her. And also of sticking her hand in ultrasound goo and then proceeding to smear it all over the technician during her echos. She’s a bit feisty, my tiny girl.
But we don’t have to see the cardiologist anymore. Because her blood pressure has stabled. Which means she no longer needs blood pressure medication. And her heart looks great, with no extra stress from the PDA and no more murmur. Which means she no longer needs EKGs and echo-cardiograms every few months.
So that puts us here: at 9 months we are equipment and medication free.
Amazing.
She still has feeding and physical therapies for her delays in those areas. But those things feel so small in comparison. We’re so very, very blessed that she is doing so well.
She’s currently trying really hard to get to this keyboard and add her own thoughts. Which I believe at this moment are “Hey you guys, tell this woman to get off the computer and sing me the letter carrier song. I realize that I just awoke from a leisurely nap but only one thing will placate me at this very moment and that is is knowing who, exactly, are the people in my neighborhood.”
Oh the letter carrier brings the mail, through rain or snow or sleet or hail…
