So if you've been following our home renovations at all, you know they came to a grinding halt when we gave birth unexpectedly. And by "we" I totally mean me. I earned every bit of the glory of that delivery. And by "unexpectedly" I mean three and a half months early. Which means our nursery wasn't just not ready. It wasn't even a nursery yet. It was still full of my scrapbooking supplies.
It probably doesn't seem like a big deal to remodel a room full of scrapbooking supplies but you have not seen my stash. It was one step away from being featured on an episode of HOARDERS in there. Here's a before picture of the room empty (and prior to new floors!)
So the room needed a total overhaul and our budget for it was exactly $0. Because of that whole just-had-a-baby thing. Our family pitched in to paint and provided us with some much needed baby things like a crib. And we moved around some furniture from other parts of the house and began fashioning the room into a nursery.
It needs some finishing touches though. And now our master bedroom? Needs some lamps. And also a dresser. Because I took them out and put them in the baby's room. This is what is known as good parenting, y'all. Putting the baby before yourself. At least, that is how I spun it to my husband when he asked where he was supposed to put his clothes.
Enter Homegoods. On Saturday I'll be attending a Homegoods shopping event and getting to pick up a few goodies courtesy of their awesome generosity. I probably don't even have to tell you how excited I am about this. My husband too because I also took the curtain rod out of our bedroom and he's all like "curtains are kind of important." I love Homegoods because they have so many great pieces to choose from and they are super affordable.
Homegoods is opening lots of new stores all around the country. So chances are that there might be one near you. Which you could stop by and check out and probably leave with a few cool things, like the coffee table book I picked up from there for my Marilyn Monroe loving sister for her birthday.
And maybe you could get those cool things for free, if you happen to win one of ten $25 giftcards to Homegoods that Blogher is giving away here. Go enter! (Here are the official rules to enter!)
