How To: 5 Point Star from Kayla Aimee on Vimeo.
I’ve taught these 5 Point Paper Stars in a few holiday classes and wanted to include them here. There are a few tutorials on my site that use wooden or metal stars and in an effort to be extra budget friendly, I’ve included these as an alternative! If you spray the paper stars with one or two coats of a clear gloss or matte finish paper sealer, they will be sturdier and can be used in the same way as the wooden stars.
They also make cute decor on their own or strung up as ornaments. It definitely takes some practice to get them right but once you do, you won’t tire of making them! I make them each year using thick, holiday themed patterned paper- something I happen to have quite a bit of! I would use double-sided paper or cardstock since you will see both sides of the stars. I recommend practicing on printer paper or scrap paper before using your favorite piece of scrapbook paper though!
I am using 8×10 as my dimensions for the stars in the video, but as long as you are using a rectangular shape, you can make them larger or smaller.
Also, don’t you like how I’m all “Hey, I have no signal to tell my husband to stop filming me so we’ll just end it all awkward like?” Yeah, that’s how we do it ’round here. And also, that’s not my house. That’s my in-law’s house. That is why it is so clean.
