This is Scarlette wearing the onesie that one of our friends who walked with us in the March For Babies made her. It just now fits her and I am just now realizing that I never posted pictures from the event. My to-do list has hardly any checkmarks on it. Also, Scarlette was super happy that I wanted to take her picture, obviously.
We’ve been so blessed by people coming together to serve our family that I wanted to focus today on some other families who’s stories have touched me.
- An Inch Of Gray – I am a long time reader of Anna’s blog. She lost her son earlier this fall in a freak flash-flooding accident. I am humbled by the grace with which she grieves and blessed by the stories she has shared. This post in particular has touched my heart so deeply.
- EBing A Mommy – I’ve been voting for Tripp’s family to win a contest that is being sponsored by Reader’s Digest. I had never heard of EB before stumbling across their story and my heart aches for their family.
- Today is National Adoption Day. My friend Heather and her family are holding a “facebook-a-thon” to raise the last bit of funds they need to bring their daughter Elsabeth home from Ethiopia. You can read more about their adoption story here.
I had some questions about the Beanies For Preemies post below. I am so thrilled to see so much interest! Thank you so much! I’ll be emailing everyone who responded on Monday. Here is some more information:
The best type of yarn to use is machine washable, extra soft and not scratchy to the touch. Here is a link to a list of yarns that NICUs typically request! Don’t worry about washing them, I will wash them all and put them in a sealed bag to take to the NICU but they will wash them again before they distribute them.
Here is a link to more preemie hat patterns. We need hats for boys and girls and it’s okay if they are sewn and not knit.
My plan for this is to do it every year, so that the parents can have their baby’s hat as a keepsake. We didn’t get to keep ours since it belonged to the hospital so I figure that if I re-supply them every year, the parents could take theirs home!
Have a wonderful weekend!
