scarlette sitting with her grandaddy
May 17, 2011
Dear Scarlette,
Tonight you played peek-a-boo with your daddy. It was the first time you've been engaged in the game, smiling at him when he peek-a-boos you instead of, well, shrieking and crying as though he scared the living daylights out of you. He wouldn't ever admit it but I think that was hurting his feelings just a little bit. He seemed incredibly excited that you were playing back with him.
You weighed eight pounds, nine ounces today. That's a full seven pounds bigger than when you were born.
You love these flashcards. You got this set from Anthropologie for Christmas- I asked for them because I wanted to frame them around your room. Except now I don't think I can because you really love them, you talk and talk to them when I show them to you. We spent one whole hour doing nothing but flashcards yesterday. Personally, I think this means you are a genius. And we need your mind. (You'll get that when you're older.)
But you might just like the alphabet in general. We do the alphabet song with sign language and you really like that too. And I, who was all NO TV FOR MY BABY!? Well, I totally let you watch a clip of the alphabet song as sung by Elmo that we recorded on the tv. It lasts about eight and a half minutes and you bob your head to it while I scarf down some breakfast and a cup or six of coffee to make it through the rest of our day.
In medical news, this week was full of appointments. You had your initial developmental screening and cognitively you are doing well but you need some physical therapy. Don't worry. We'll have you doing chin-ups in no time. We got permission to remove your feeding tube, your ROP is clearing up, you had a great echo and EKG and your cardiologist? He says you are amazing.
And you know what? We totally agree.
I love you,
Mommy
