I would just like to put in a request for you to give me one of your big smiles for a picture, just once. You smile at me like that all day long and it is the cutest thing I've ever seen and I'd really like to wall paper our house with photos of it. Let's work on that, k?
I've been so busy with you that I haven't been doing the best job of documenting everything, which is kind of killing the scrapbooker in me. I'm going to work on rectifying that. I took you to the eye doctor this week. It was the first time I took you to an appointment by myself and if mommies got graded, there is a big fat F on that day. I packed you a bottle and then promptly left it on the kitchen counter. Your ROP has resolved but the doctor was worried a bit about your tracking. Or lack thereof. Personally, if someone had just held me down and dilated my eyes three times, I wouldn't look at any of their stupid toys either.
I also got into it had a calm, rational discussion with your GI doctor over your feeding tube. Meaning that I refused to put it back in. That's another story for a different day. In any case, we finally got permission to do a week long trial with no feeding tube. You are doing so great without it. You need to gain some more weight before Tuesday for us to be allowed to keep it out. So actually, forget that smiling for pictures thing and just concentrate on fattening up.
I probably haven't been the best mom this week because, well, I am exhausted. You WANT to sleep through the night but your doctor makes us wake you up every three hours to give you a bottle since we aren't using the feeding tube. Hence me forgetting really important things, like packing diapers in your diaper bag. And writing this on the appropriate day.
Your favorite book right now was a present from mommy's friend Nikki. It's called Llama Llama Red Pajama and apparently it's super popular. I'm really glad I have friends who are up on this sort of thing. I have no idea why but you love this book. If I try to read you something else you lose interest pretty fast, but you get really excited and "talk" to this one.
You hate tummy time but love baths. You are so stinkin' cute in the bathtub that it's really hard for me to stick to our no-nekkid-baby-pictures-on-the-internet rule. You are still wearing newborn clothes and diapers. You just started enjoying the swing and the playmat but you're not quite sure about the bouncy seat yet. Which means it's a rare day that I get a shower around here.
We took you on your very first outing this week. For Mother's Day your daddy wanted to take me to recreate one of our special first dates and have you with us, sort of a full circle. Except we can't technically take you anywhere yet because of that whole "quarantine" thing. So me and you and daddy sat in the car to eat our ice cream instead of on a bench and it was just as lovely. We're so happy you're a part of our lives.
I love you,
Mommy
