There are sprinklers and ring toss games and sidewalk chalk stored in a basket near the back porch but who needs outside toys when you can open a pretty umbrella and pretend that you are Mary Poppins? Or stack all of your baby blocks and then ever so carefully toss them through the railing one by one?
I place a lot of orders with DaySpring.com for our home but also for gifts because I think they have one of the best collections of faith-themed home decor products around. Non-cheesy faith-themed products that is 🙂 So this month I teamed up with them for a few exclusive reader discounts + a giveaway. I totally admit to ordering the good things umbrella shown above solely because I thought it would be cute in photoshoots. And it probably is, except my niece Nixie didn’t want to pose with it so much as twirl it around yelling “Keeka, look at me! I’m a circus zebra!” I don’t even know what that means. I was all “Mary Poppins, Nixie. You know, a spoonful of sugar?” and she was like “polka dot polka dot circus zebra!” The good news is that I didn’t actually own an umbrella so turns out, it was a totally useful purchase even if that wasn’t my original intention.
Scarlette loves these blessings blocks which we own on the advice of her therapist who thinks she needs some work on her fine motor skills. This observation came about while watching Scarlette douse every surface of our house with sweet potato puree. The girl can’t use a spoon, y’all. Apparently blocks help with that. I was fairly skeptical of this because we have those baby lego blocks and she has zero interest in them even though I try to entice her by building elaborate castles and forts. For the baby, y’all. For the baby.
Bad parent confession: I totally ordered the blessing blocks because they are cute colors with bible story illustrations on them and they spell out words like “Hope, Joy, Love” etc. I figured that she wouldn’t ever play with them and then I could use them as decoration in her nursery but still be all “I totally got her some blocks” to her therapist. Except she loves them. They are constantly scattered around my house. Also, she can point to the letter “B” on them and then say “B. Buh” which proves that my kid is a TOTAL GENIUS.
I also keep a bunch of these blank note cards around because I am working with a local support group and often writing out notes of encouragement for preemie parents in our NICU. They have a lot of cards that I think are beautiful and sentimental without being preachy.
But my favorite things are my everything beautiful jewelry tree and redeemed jewelry – remember when I posted about these grace earrings? They are my go-to summer staple. I wear them pretty much every day along with my crown bobby pins. Because I like to pretend that I’m Princess Kate. I love the jewelry tree because it keeps all my necklaces untangled + I like the subtle reminder of that bible verse when I’m getting ready. I used to have it written on my mirror in dry erase marker so my husband also prefers it on the jewelry tree. He was all “I can’t see to shave” or something.
On the left is the jewelry tree and on the right is what mine currently looks like, complete with my new favorite earrings.
Since this one is my all-time favorite, DaySpring offered to give my readers a 30% discount on the jewelry tree with code tree30 for a limited time (there is no limit so that you can order them as gifts aka Christmas In July)
You can also get 25% off anything in the entire store with the code JOY2012.
AND they have free shipping on orders over $50 so right now is a great time to shop with them! I am trying to decide between the antique gold necklace and the crown necklace to match my earrings.
So there is a peek at some of my favorite things. To enter to win a $50 DaySpring gift card so that you can pick out some of your favorite things, just leave me a comment (you can tell me which necklace I should get because I’m so indecisive) or you can share a tweet or just click the little LIKE button for extra entries.
