This is what Halloween looks like in our house. I decided to make a pumpkin with our monogram* because I had some orange glass glitter and thought that would be a fun monotone look. Except I didn’t really think that all the way through because everyone who has seen it has asked me if we are Tennessee football fans. So there’s that.
I gave Scarlette a pumpkin, some washable finger paints and a paintbrush (because that seemed much, much safer than you know, a knife ) and let her go to town. When I brought the pumpkin out she said “WHOA! LOOK AT THAT! PUMPKIN SCARLETTE!”
Which actually sounded like “WHOA! YUUKA DA! MUNKEEN GAR-YICK!”
Next time I update my resume I am going to include “proficient in several languages.”
Then I dipped her hands in paint and tried to get her handprints on a pumpkin, which turns out, is not as easy as one might think it would be.
And also why you don’t see any pumpkins with handprints on them.
We didn’t even bother carving our own because A) who really even trusts me with sharp objects and B) this year Nintendo offered to send costumes over for Jeff and me and then they surprised us by having these pre-carved pumpkins delivered:
I KNOW, RIGHT? Yes, that IS Mario and Boo carved into our pumpkins! The Fedex man declared them the coolest pumpkins he’s ever seen. When I put the flameless candles in them, Scarlette pointed at them and said “PUMPKIN! OUCH!” because she is a genius. Also, she manages to fit seven syllables into the word OUCH so she’s most definitely southern.
(*To make the glittered monogram, I just freehand drew on the pumpkin with an orange colored pencil and then used the Martha Stewart Glitter Glue w/Brush to fill it in because that is the best glitter glue ever. Then I sprinkled the glitter on and when it was dry I sprayed the whole thing with Krylon Clear Glitter Sealer. The whole project took about 15 minutes)
