I bet y’all can’t guess what happened to the phone on the left. Also, yes, my husband DID repeatedly tell me that was going to happen if I didn’t get a case for it.
Click CONTINUE READING to learn more about my preschool plans for Scarlette, my new phone and how I feel about the best wireless plan ever (in my opinion). I promise they are all connected.
So I found an amazing preschool to put Scarlette in come autumn. It took forever because apparently I’m both incredibly picky and a bit overprotective. Okay, extremely overprotective. The thought of having her away from me still makes me cringe but because she was in quarantine for so very long her team and I all agreed that she would really benefit developmentally from spending more time with her peers. So the search for a preschool began.
That’s when I discovered that preschool is stinking expensive, y’all. And I didn’t even want to enroll her somewhere fulltime! I just wanted to find some sort of Mother’s Morning Out that she could attend. I finally found a place that I love where she’ll go for two mornings a week. Then I needed to make room in the budget for it.
I knew she’d be starting school soon after our cell phone contract was up. I also knew that I was going to switch service providers because I was unhappy with ours. I figured that if I could find a more affordable aka cheap wireless plan, it would be a good place to start.
Some of our family members have the Walmart Family Plan and had been telling us for awhile that it was the best lowest price rate plan but I didn’t believe them because it was so cheap that I thought it couldn’t possibly be that good. And I was kind of being a stickler for wanting unlimited plans because of our work/family needs. I started researching it though and then I was all “OH MY GOSH IT REALLY IS THIS GOOD.” Because y’all, it is going to cost us HALF of what we pay now for the exact same service.
HALF.
So when I had the opportunity to try out the new Walmart Family Plan complete with a new phone, I jumped at it because it seemed like it perfect timing. Plus, that shattered cell phone in the top left photo? That’s what I’ve been using, in that condition, for the past nine months.
GUESS HOW THAT HAPPENED.
So now I have a new Samsung S4 and I can see the numbers I am dialing because the face of it isn’t covered in superglue and bits of plastic screen protector. Also, I immediately put it in some sort of protective gear on account of how I might be a little lot clumsy. Look how fancy!
Then I went to Walmart to have the phone activated! (Then they were like “You can’t make a video inside the store!” and I was all “Okay” because I’m a really strict rule follower.)
The whole process took just a few minutes. I couldn’t find the activation kit so I asked for it and the sweet girl working got one out for me. It looks like this:
Then she just scanned the phone and gave me my new cell phone number and it was all ready to go right there in the store! Also, you don’t even have to buy one of their phones, you can just take your current phone in and they will activate it to work with their Family Mobile Plan.
So to get started, I had to purchase the activation kit for $25. My monthly bill is $40 a month for unlimited talk, text and data and I can manage it online. I was like “I love technology, always and forever!” <- Name that movie. You can take in the phone you already have and they will activate it with the plan for you, or you can purchase a phone from them. Adding my husband to our plan is just an extra $35 a month and he is able to use the phone he already has. Which means our total bill for two people on an unlimited plan is less than $80 a month, y’all. If I were Rachel Zoe, I’d be all “I DIE” right now.
And that extra $80 a month we will be saving? That’s going to put Scarlette in preschool two mornings a week. Because seriously, that is a LOT of savings. And I’m incredibly happy with the service, I’ve found it’s no different than what we had before- in fact, I get better coverage. It’s killing me that we were paying so much for so long when this plan is such a better value because y’all know how I feel about saving money.
I made a little video about all of this and it involves cute footage of Scarlette pretending to talk on the phone. I DID NOT EVEN TELL HER TO DO THAT. I really enjoy when she starts yelling at the invisible person on the other end to pick up their phone. Maybe I got a little frustrated on hold with an insurance company this week is all I’m saying:
