So here’s the thing: it’s blog conference season. I just returned home from Reviewer’s Retreat and pretty soon a lot of y’all are headed off to BlogHer which is like, the biggest blog conference of all. And while clothes aren’t the most important thing in the world, you do spend a lot of time interacting with brands and developing business relationships so it’s never a bad idea to look well put together.
What I think you should definitely take to a blog conference?
- Comfortable shoes. And not like, those wedges that are comfortable for about an hour but actual comfortable-all-day-long shoes because you’re on your feet a lot.
- Lots of layers. I think I forgot to take a photo of it but I had a cardigan or denim jacket with me all the time because even though it was eighty degrees outside, it was freezing in the conference room.
- Pieces you love. If you just pack trendy clothes because you think you’re supposed to, you’re not going to feel comfortable and confidant. Choose outfits that you genuinely feel good in.
I mentioned before that I was lucky enough to get to work with Stitch Fix, who helped me put together some outfits that fit my style and worked well for a more professional look but that I could still wear in my everyday mommy life as well. This was really important to me; I prefer not to have a “work” wardrobe separate from my daily wear because I have a pretty creative job and I’m trying to simplify my entire life. Like the amount of laundry I have. So being able to layer pieces in to what I already own for a more polished look is what I was hoping to accomplish.
When I pack for a trip I tend to put all of my outfits together in advance so I took some photos while I was doing that so that you could see what I decided to take. (Also? I did not iron anything before I took these photos.)(Andplusalso, I consistently forget to switch my camera back to auto before I hand it to someone else, which is why half of these pictures are out of focus.)
Now let me get back to talking about what a professional I am 😉
For the casual events, like the pre-registration photowalk, I stuck to denim and a cute top with a bold necklace and flats. I wanted to look nice when I arrived but I definitely didn’t want to spend hours traveling in a fancy getup.

For the sessions I stuck to pants mostly because this conference was a little bit more laid back. I ended up trading the pink tee shirt for the top I’m wearing here because I just felt more comfortable in it. I didn’t want to be tugging and pulling at my outfit all day and it just felt dressier. I was a bit unsure about the mint skinnies when they arrived but they encouraged me to pair them with the eyelet peplum top that I already had and a statement necklace. I was all “I don’t do statement necklaces” but agreed to try one and turns out, I LOVE STATEMENT NECKLACES.

For the fancier events like the cocktail party or the evening keynotes I stuck to classic but comfortable dresses that I could move around in and bend over when I inevitably dropped my plate on the floor without worrying about flashing anyone. I don’t look awkward at all asking someone to take my picture on our balcony, right? SO AWKWARD. Normally I wear heels with the blue dress but like I said: COMFORT, Y’ALL.
Here are some snapshots from the conference. Adam Levine totally approved this message.
(P.S. If you’re like “What is #wiww?!?!”– that stands for What I Wore Wednesday, which I’m linking up with here!) Also, this is not a sponsored post – Stitch Fix sent me some fun clothes and jewelry to wear to the conference in addition to my own clothes. I totally had to send the jewelry back and stuff. And they didn’t ask me to write this post but I wanted to share for #wiww!
