Some kid spit on me at Target tonight. She was just sitting in the buggy and started spitting off the side as I walked past.Unfortunately, I was unable to dodge in time. Freaking mannequins blocking my escape route.
Her mother looked at me, pointed at my belly and said "Well, this is what you're in for" and just kept on going.
And I thought you know, maybe. Maybe I'll have a kid who does that one day. I don't want to be one of those people who thinks that their kid will be perfectly well behaved all the time.
But the thing is, if I do have a kid that decides it's a good idea to spit off the side of the buggy at Target, I do not think I will continue to wander idly towards the display of scarves. Probably I will do something like address the fact that my child is spitting off the side of a buggy IN THE MIDDLE OF TARGET.
And if that spit happens to hit another human being, I do not think I will brush it off by teling them "Hey no worries, that unborn baby of yours is going to grow up to spit on people too." Probably I will offer more than an offhand remark, perhaps something in the form of an apology.
But you never know. This baby could be a spitter.
