A super quick post today because I thought this would be helpful to some of my paper crafting friends! I actually do still make crafty things despite the lack of evidence of such things on this blog for the past several months.
I was working on cutting out some pretty feathers for our MOPS theme this year and I discovered that I had lost the ratchet cap to my Silhouette Cameo blade. Of course I did. I knew as soon as I opened my Cameo back in December that I was going to lose that flipping cap. Because this is who I am. I am the girl who loses her house keys, favorite earrings and tiny pieces to important machinery.
I tried to just change the settings using my incredible strength but apparently I need to work out my arms more for that. And then I tried using an actual ratchet wrench and then I figured I would type this up real quick to save you the trouble of making THAT mistake. It does not work the way you think it would, basically.
Anyhow, then I searched around on Google for quite some time typing in things like “I lost the ratchet cap to my Silhouette Cameo blade” or “Silhouette Cameo blade missing ratchet cap” and apparently Google was feeling spiteful because it kept returning search results that said really helpful things like “Use the ratchet cap to adjust your blade!”
And I was all CAN YOU NOT READ, GOOGLE? What kind of algorithm is this? The mocking kind? Is that what we’re doing now? Because that hurts, Google. I thought we were tight. Remember that one time you taught me how to fix my broken garbage disposal?
Anyhow, I finally discovered that the little indention inside the Cameo that is meant to HOLD the adjustable blade for STORAGE? That one? The one I just learned is meant to be used to store said blade? IT ALSO ADJUSTS IT! If you lose your ratchet cap you can totally use the ratchet hole that is in the machine to adjust your blade. Like so:
Just put the blade in the storage hole and twist, just like you would do with the ratchet cap. I mean, maybe you already knew that but if you did not then you are feeling the same joy that I am right now, aren’t you?
And if you are like the past me and are currently frantically googling “Help!” well then YOU ARE WELCOME MY (NEW) FRIEND. You. Are. Welcome.
