Last year I stumbled upon Truth In The Tinsel when I was looking for advent activities. I loved it so much that I bought it knowing that Scarlette was a little too young to do all of the lessons in it. She just turned three and I plan on going through the entire e-book with her this season because I know that she’ll be able to participate in it and I think it is such a great resource.
It’s basically an e-book that walks you through the Christmas story. Each day as a passage of Scripture, an ornament craft tutorial as well as talking points and activities to do with your kids. It’s sort of like a daily devotion + craft + advent activity all wrapped up in one.
So anyhow, I loved it and signed up for the affiliate program.
Then recently I met Amanda, the girl who created it, and I had no idea she was the girl who created it. Apparently she goes to a church I used to attend a long time ago and so we have some mutual friends in real life and we were chatting about things like children’s ministry when somehow I put two and two together and discovered that she was actually OhAmanda and that I was totally in love with her e-book.
I might have been slightly fangirlish about it and she was really sweet and didn’t act at all afraid of me. I appreciate people who can handle all my awkwardness.
Anyhow, after that I decided to sit in one of her sessions at the conference and she shared a little about her passion for children’s ministry and I thought “That makes a lot of sense. You can totally see that in her e-book.”
If you’re looking for advent activities to do as a family this year (and I know you are because I see you pinning them on Pinterest all day long, people. I’m like the Big Brother of DIY) then I highly recommend Truth In The Tinsel.
