In April I had the honor of reading an excerpt from my new book, Anchored, in the Atlanta production of the nationally acclaimed Listen To Your Mother show.
I’m so thrilled to be able to share the video from the show with you today! This piece is taken from Chapter 12, The Scarlette-Lettered Stories and I so hope you enjoy it, complete with all of my over-exaggerated hand gestures! Plus, now when you read the book you’ll totally be able to hear my voice in your head, right?
(If you’ve read the book already then no, you are not mistaken! It’s not exactly as it reads in the chapter, we rearranged it a bit for the show)
It was such a privilege for me to share the stage with these women, who have become sweet friends in my life long after the curtain closed.
(I was even wearing heels, y’all. So short. So needed a box to stand on to reach the podium.)
(Girl’s Night Out at Rachel’s house! I find it’s always good to make friends with people who can make praline crunch as good as Rachel can.)
You can find Anchored on sale now (and like, literally on sale because it’s almost half off on Amazon!) and you can watch the show in it’s entirety here on youtube.
I loved Erin Robinson Hall’s take on infertility (you will laugh SO HARD) and Rachel Macy Stafford’s beautiful hands-free mama reminder.
The beautiful thing about this show is the way the sharing of our stories has the power to open hearts and connect us in our humanity. Plus, it’s just a really fun show. All of the men in my family that attended said that they really enjoyed it, even my husband who sadly does not share my intense love of theater and probably only went to you know, support me being in it and all. You should absolutely grab tickets when it comes to your town next year.
