One of Scarlette's therapist keeps talking about her red hair. She's not the only one to mention it. I had just assumed Scarlette would have really dark hair like Jeff and me so I'm surprised at how light it is. In person it's sort of a strawberry blonde.
Not that I have anything against red hair. I'm a big fan. In fact, during my Anne of Green Gables phase, I wrote a lot of short stories in which my heroines all had long, auburn tresses. Also, I overused the word tresses. And also? They all had boyfriends that drove convertibles. And solved crime. And one of them could fly.
I was never very good at writing fiction.
In any case, I really like red hair.
Once I even dyed my own hair red because it was a week into my freshman year of college and it felt like an appropriate rite of passage. Because I went to Bible college and dying my hair seemed pretty wild.
So like I said, red hair. I dig it.
But every time someone mentions Scarlette's hair looking red, I can't help but think to myself "Self, I sincerely hope you did not inadvertently name a red haired child Scarlette."
(p.s., I'll just pretend we did it on purpose, lol)
