These are just a few things I want to remember about you right now:
– When I ask you to give me some lovin, you lean your little face forward and gently headbutt me.
– When you get mad that I won’t move faster/give you something/pick you up, you hit your hand on the floor and shriek one quick note at me. This makes me feel as though your next word might possibly be “no”
– You make stereotypical baby sounds like “goo goo ga ga.” I mean, you literally say “goo ga ga ga ga kay kay” all day long.
– You love Elmo. You could care less about the other Sesame Street characters, even though Mommy has tried to not so subtly coerce you into liking her favorites (“LOOK! It’s Snuffleupagus! YAY SNUFFY! We LOVE Snuffleupagus!”) As soon as the Elmo’s World song comes on, you stop whatever you are doing and “talk” animatedly to Elmo until that segment ends.
– You’re so gentle with Lucy. Your daddy and I are so impressed with how sweetly you pet her, when you tend to kind of beat your other toys into submission :/
– Your favorite song right now is The Banana Song. I was trying to calm you down one day and went through all the kiddie songs I know. After “Down By The Bay” I started singing “Day! I say day-oh!” and you laughed so hard at me. So I looked it up on youtube because I didn’t know all of the words and found the clip from Beetlejuice. I remembered they danced to it and thought you would laugh at that. And you did. I forgot, however, that at the end some big scary hands grab everyone and they start screaming. Which in turn, made you start screaming. After that mommy fail, I just downloaded some kid songs on iTunes.
– When you fall asleep, you pet your Mr. Fox. If you’re laying on me, you pet my hair. If I put you in bed and haven’t put Mr. Fox in with you yet, you reach your hand out and start patting the bed where he should be.
– I only let you have your pacifier at nap and bedtime. That’s worked fine until now. You all of the sudden have become very attached to your paci. When I get you up from a nap, you immediately put both hands over it and turn your face away from me. When I hand it to you at night, you immediately put it in your mouth and sigh with contentment. It cracks me up, like you’ve just had such a long day and that pacifier was just what you needed.
– If someone else sneezes, you burst into tears. If YOU sneeze, you burst out laughing. If we fake sneeze at you, you giggle. You’ve been doing this for awhile and I think it is hysterical.
– Sometimes when you’re really tired and we’re snuggling in the rocking chair, you look up at me, reach your hand out and lay it on the side of my face. And no matter what sort of day we’ve had, it is perfect.
Oh my gosh I love you kiddo.
Love, Mommy
