Something I did not consider when we bought this house was WHAT IN THE HECKFIRE WE WERE GOING TO DO ABOUT AN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER.
Here is a picture of our living room (from when we were in the midst of painting.) I drew a lovely television for you so that you can picture it. I'm really very good at drawing lifelike objects.
I'm not a fan of televisions over the mantle but I'm practicing this thing called "compromise" which in my marriage means that Jeff gets to put the tv over the mantle and I get to have an entire room to scrapbook in. I might have come out ahead there, but there is no keeping score in this marriage.
The thing is, I'm not sure what to do about hiding the cable box and Jeff's gaming systems. The wall on the left is all windows and french doors. The wall on the right ends where you see it in the photo as it becomes open to the dining area. So this view would be the view from the couch and all of our available wall space.
We tried a ladder shelf but there was no hiding seven hundred and forty two cords using that thing. So I am at a loss. Because of the slope of the ceiling, I don't know what kind of media cabinet to get or where to put it. I actually really love this space, I'm just annoyed that I haven't conquered it yet and all of our stuff is currently sitting on a bathroom shelving unit. Right. In our living room.
Please help me.
