My favorite of the classic paintings is Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I mean, I know technically it is not “classic” but “post-impressionist” and all that but I mean in general, it is my favorite of the paintings of great artists that you study in school. Which is a bit cliche of a choice probably, however, I distinctly remember enjoying the lesson on pointillism and being fairly intrigued by the Mona Lisa but it was Starry Night that I tried to replicate in swirls and splashes of color in the forty-five minutes we had for art each day.
And it is that imagery that I always imagine when I think about creation, the way just the right combination of gasses swirl together in the vast blackness and set it aglow with light. Regardless of how anyone believes that it all came together, it amazes me that it does, that the night sky is punctuated with a beauty of burning orbs that guide us from lightyears away.
I took Astronomy as an elective class, because I was fascinated with it all, the way you could use a set of stars to navigate around the globe. The way you could play a giant game of connect the dots to find images in constellations. The way you could with on them as the fell.
Psalm 147:4 says that “He counts the stars and calls them by name” and the Everlasting Light collection is based around that verse, a beautiful collection that fuses scripture and constellations.
I purchased the Shine Your Light pillow cover myself because I just loved it so much. I ran out of stuffing so I need to fill it out a little more but isn’t it so pretty? I thought it was a nice addition for the holiday season too.
And then DaySpring sent me the Starburst Mirror and I wish I was a better photographer so that you could see how beautifully made it is.
