This post is sponsored by Carter’s; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. And there is a $100 gift card giveaway at the end, so be sure to read it for that + cute pictures of my baby.
People always say that it is not nearly as fun to shop for little boy clothes as it is little girl clothes and I don’t know how that myth got perpetuated because let me just tell you: I love dressing a little boy. Seriously, LOOK AT THE DINOSAUR ON HIS TUSH. After the third box from Carter’s arrived my husband was all “Step away from the computer, you’re addicted to online ordering.”
And then I had to explain to him that first of all, I NEEDED to order baby clothes on account of how we didn’t find out the gender beforehand and so I just had a few neutral bodysuits. And second of all, Carter’s totally offered to send me the third box and I took them right up on that because we just spent all our money having a surprise baby. Don’t have a high-risk pregnancy, that’s my advice.
But also because Carter’s is my go-to brand for children’s clothes (hence the boxes that I had already purchased myself.) I feel like they are good quality and retain their value well, which is very scientific information I just made up based on the fact that they always go for top dollar when I participate in my yearly consignment sale. Plus, Scarlette is getting to the age where she likes to help choose her clothes and I appreciate that their little girl selection is cute and trendy while still being age appropriate. I have very strong feelings on the latter.
My absolute must-have item clothing item for babies is the sleeper gown. Sometimes it’s hard to find these in the boy section which annoys me because these are the best possible sleepers. You just roll the bottom up for easy night-time diaper access. I do not even know why companies still make sleepers with five zillion snaps and zippers. No thank you. I am functioning like a zombie in the middle of the night and operating with very little light, mostly by feel. Sleeper gowns are where it’s at when you’re blindly groping around for a dirty diaper. While I will happily put my son in a pink flowered gown for my own convenience, I do love that Carter’s has neutral ones.
Pause here to appreciate how cute my little charmer is:
Carter’s sent me a sampling of their new Little Baby Basics line and I love it because it’s basically a capsule wardrobe for babies. I had already ordered a few pieces from it because my life hack for dressing my kids is to make everything mix and match. Seriously, this makes everything just so much easier. We stick to a specific color scheme and only buy pieces that we can mix and match. This way they can pick out their own clothes without looking like they got dressed in the dark and overall I can buy less clothes. And owning less clothes means less laundry. This is probably my best parenting decision ever.
Plus, it is all super soft. I can not abide scratchy clothes on baby skin so I love the babysoft sets, which is what I brought Ridley home from the hospital in.
Ridley doesn’t look impressed but that’s just because his constant expression is one of casual skepticism.
And let’s just talk about how cute this outfit is. Rugby stripe bodysuit + poplin pants = so cute. BUT THEN. Then you add a denim jacket and IT’S THE CUTEST THING EVER I CAN’T EVEN HANDLE IT. I bought the rugby stripe bodysuit in 5 different colors and my husband said they were his favorites. Then Ridley outgrew all his newborn stuff and so I ordered another set in the next two sizes. I went all in on the rugby stripes, that’s what I’m saying.
So in conclusion, don’t listen to anyone who says shopping for boys is not very fun. It is SO fun.
