Do you like my rhyming title? Also, do you like how I felt really awkward trying to get a good picture of myself all made up, and so then I called Jeff over to take them for me, and he was all, “Why don’t you try laughing so that you look more natural?” and so then I made him tell me jokes, only, once we actually got a laughing picture I just looked way more awkward than when we started? This is why I’m not a full time beauty blogger. Because of all the awkward.
There’s a star on my calendar next to the words “Girls’ Night Out” — not so that I won’t forget about it but because it’s so highly anticipated. I love my girl time, and I love any excuse to wear my five and a half inch nude wedges. Let’s be honest: those are not practical for motherhood. I just bought them because I wanted to look like Princess Kate. Which totally worked because whenever I wear these shoes, people are like, “OHMYGOSH YOU LOOK JUST LIKE PRINCESS KATE!” That’s not true. No one has ever said that to me. I’m just trying to justify my shoe purchase.
Anyhow, because I got all dressed up and because Mary Kay sent me some beauty products to play with, I spent some extra time on my make-up for girls’ night. (Click CONTINUE READING to read more + enter for an opportunity to win a fabulous gift basket from Mary Kay!) I applied a little bronzer (because I’m obsessed with bronzer after my seeing my friend Stephanie’s tutorial) and then the Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush. I used the Mineral Eye Color in Truffle to create a dramatic, smoky eye.
Here is my beauty tip for you: After using my pencil liner, I dip my eyeliner brush in some water and then in the Black Pearl Mineral Eye Color and painted over my liner with it. That way I get a little bit of sparkle. Also, by “eyeliner brush” I totally mean a fine tipped paint brush. You can’t even convince me that they aren’t totally the same thing.
Here is another tip: don’t tweeze your eyebrows into two different shapes. You’re welcome.
But my favorite new product is the Mary Kay® Lash Primer topped with the Mary Kay® Lash Love Mascara. When I wear this mascara, no one looks at Scarlette and then at me and remarks that, “She must get her beautiful long lashes from her father.” Thanks so much, random lady at Target.
I also wore the NouriShine Plus™ Lip Gloss in Café Au Lait over a pale pink lip liner, and I got a ton of compliments on my lipstick. People were all, “That lipstick is beautiful and makes you look just like Princess Kate!” except that no one actually said the last part of that sentence. Probably they were saying in it inside their heads though.
I’ve been layering the Rock ‘n’ Red over my favorite matte red lipstick when I want to look like Taylor Swift. Which is basically all the days I don’t want to look like Princess Kate. So Tuesdays and Fridays.
