Listen. I do not normally post photos where I am not heavily made up. This is because I am southern. I wear a lot of makeup y’all. Also because I’m insecure. Probably more of the latter, actually, but whatever.
Anyhow, today’s giveaway is all about skincare. I’ve been using a new skincare product from Rodan + Fields. They are the people who created Pro-Activ, if that sounds familiar. If not, you definitely need to watch more television. Cynthia emailed me about doing a review and giveaway and I was pretty hesitant about the whole thing. First of all, I can not put a before picture of myself on the internet due to aforementioned insecurity. I mean, I can. I just won’t. Because I have terrible skin.
Second of all, I have terrible skin. Okay, terrible is probably an exaggeration. But my post-baby hormones still have not leveled out. I’ll save you all the gory details about that but seriously, I’m 28 years old and annoyed that I’m still having hormonal breakouts.
And the other thing about my skin is that it’s incredibly sensitive and the last time I tried to do a skincare product review my skin was like “I REBEL AGAINST THIS!” and I ended up passing everything on to my sister. She liked the products but I wasn’t sure it would be worth the hassle for me to do another one.
Cynthia convinced me to take the online assessment and try the recommended products. She was all “if you hate it, don’t use it and we’ll call the whole thing off.” So I did the free assessment and it recommended the Soothe line for sensitive skin (no surprise there) and Unblemish for my breakouts (see? so sad!) I emailed myself the routine it suggested I follow and the printed it out and taped it to my mirror. I am a very visual person.
I’ve been using the combination for about three weeks and this weekend my mother was like “your skin looks really good” and I was all “I KNOW!” I wasn’t even modest about it because seriously, my skin looks much better. Like, enough for me to post those pictures in which I am only wearing some sheer powder instead of the full-on foundation that I usually wear to even out my skin tone. Because the only thing more annoying that being as pale as a vampire is having sensitive skin that makes you look blotchy and pale.
I went to IKEA like that, y’all. Without foundation. I realize that sounds vapid and shallow but it’s kind of a big deal.
So the verdict is that I really like the products. The combination seems to be working well for my skin type, I like that the Unblemish wash can be used as a mask and I love the Soothe sensitive skin treatment. I would probably drop the sunscreen as it’s a bit too heavy for my taste, I only use it if I’m going to be outside for an extended period of time. The only downside for me? It’s a little bit spendy. I am really pleased with the results though, and the products seem to last awhile (it only takes a little bit each use) so I think it’s worth splurging a little birthday money on.
