I’m trying to show off my necklace, because A) it’s beautiful and B) I have one to give away to one of y’all so it’d be nice if you could see how pretty it is, right?
I’ve been wearing this necklace during the Lenten season especially. Ever since I read 7 (go read 7) I’ve been working on incorporating the seven sacred pauses into my day. That sounds very holy but really, it’s just a reminder to set aside some time for prayer. I mean, literally I use my cell phone alarm to remind me and that seems the opposite of holy. Like, maybe if I were holy, I would just remember to pray out of the overflow of all my spiritual goodness (if I were full of spiritual goodness and not sarcasm, that is.) But I am a whirlwind and need a physical reminder most days.
A touchstone.
That’s what this is, this piece of jewelry. It actually IS stone, mined from Jerusalem and polished in a simple setting that shows off the beauty that comes with being part of nature. It’s a bit heavy, which I like because I don’t forget I’m wearing it and I remember why.
And also, it matches pretty much everything. That isn’t holy at all. But it’s true. I get a ton of compliments on it. And Scarlette likes to rub it. Or attempt to bite it. It’s possible she thinks it’s a cookie. But given her penchant for pretty things, I think she just finds it beautiful as well.
It’s called The Hope Pendant. It’s shaped to resemble the stone rolled away from the tomb of Jesus on Easter morning, telling a simple story about the most important part of the Crucifixion. Hand crafted, each one is unique. I love the love in the details of this piece.
