That is my sister. We’re making Blue Steel faces because that’s appropriate for wedding photos. Spoiler Alert: This DVD is about sisters. That isn’t really a spoiler because the DVD description tells you that. Except I didn’t read the DVD description so I was actually sort of surprised at that part.
Remember how once upon a time (see what I did there?) I auditioned to be Tinker Bell at Disney World and then quit halfway through the audition process when I discovered that the girl who plays Tinker Bell? They strap her to a zipline and send her flying off of the top of Cinderella’s castle every night. I might be small and pixie-like but I do not have a death wish, y’all.
And that’s the story of how I worked at a coffee shop perfecting lattes where I was totally safe, except for that one time I sliced my hand open on the bagel knife. Only that turned out fine, except for the guy who ordered a bagel.
Sometimes I start telling a story and people look at me like “What in the heckfire are you even talking about?”
I’ve seen a surprising amount of the Disney Fairies movies because of the fact that Tinker Bell seems to be a favorite of both my nieces as well. So when I have them over we typically go to the library and let them check out a Tinker Bell movie. Except by “go to the library” I mean “browse Amazon Prime” because my library only has like, two Tinker Bell movies.
There are a lot of perks to being a review blogger, like trying out new makeup and getting to go to fun events but nothing as great as getting a copy of the Disney movie “Secret of the Wings” your niece put on her Christmas list a month before it releases and inviting her over for a surprise movie date. My nieces think I am super cool. They also think I am magic because I haven’t yet revealed to them that the video baby monitor is how I can see and talk to them when I am in another room, so no one tell them that secret.

I just really like that Tinker Bell. She’s very spritely. Except for that she is a fairy and not a sprite. Wikipedia says there is a difference. The story centers on Tinker Bell finding her long-lost sister. It’s a sweet tale of working together for a greater good and the importance of family. Jeff and I agreed this was our favorite movie of the Disney Fairies series so far; it was cute and fun and sprinkled with clean adult humor so we weren’t bored watching it with the little ones.
Plus, I felt as though my only complaint about the series in general is that sometimes Tinker Bell breaks the rules and then that works out in her favor, which isn’t my favorite lesson to teach little ones. In this one, she does the same but I felt like they showed the consequences of her actions, the reason for the rules and a working together to see why the rules might need changing in a positive way. I was filling my BFF in on the movie and my happiness with that part, since she and I share the same feelings about that.
I’m five years older than my sister, although the fact that I look like a twelve year constantly causes people to question us on that point. We spent our youth playing imaginative games, dressing up like princesses and creating elaborate pine straw castles in the backyard. I may or may not have at some point in time pushed her off the top bunk bed just to see if she could fly like Tinker Bell.
Sisterhood is like a secret sorority of shared experiences and nostalgic memories, bound together by a growing thread of friendship. Sisterhood was fun when we were young but beautiful as we age. It’s the only thing that makes me slightly ache to have another child, the bond of a sibling. But then I remember 6 Months In The NICU and that time my sister read my diary, out loud, on the playground and I reconsider that.
Just kidding. Not really. That totally happened. I’m an awesome sister for forgiving that. Plus also, I broke her Style Me Barbie head. Like I said, sisterhood is awesome.
