This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Getaways. All opinions are 100% mine.
The other night J and I went to have passport photos made, which was a bit of an experience on account of how I am very, very pale and so the first set of photos they took of me came out with just a white blur where my face is supposed to be.
I LITERALLY DID NOT SHOW UP ON FILM.
Like a vampire.
I am not even exaggerating when I tell you that they reprinted my passport photos SEVEN TIMES in order to darken them enough to be able to make out my facial features.
And then they snapped J’s picture and it just printed out perfectly on the first try. And I was all “STOP IT, YOU WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHABLE SKIN TONE.”
Yesterday I mentioned how my goal for my thirties was to really embrace each day and seek out new experiences. So when Groupon presented me with the chance to do some travel writing by trying out one of their Getaway experiences I was completely thrilled for the #MyGrouponGetaway opportunity.
(That sounded very professional. In reality, I was like this.)
Did you even know that you can book all-inclusive vacations on Groupon at fantastic prices? I scrolled through all of the options on Groupon Getaways and basically spent the day swooning over choices, like trips to Tuscany or Barcelona or my husband’s dream vacation: New Zealand (thank you, Lord of the Rings.)
I even found an experience trip to Highclere Castle. You know, this place:
YES THAT IS DOWNTON ABBEY, Y’ALL.
So then I was like “DECISION MADE, TEA AND SCONES WITH LADY GRANTHAM THANK YOU VERY MUCH.”
Except apparently my husband was not as fond as I was of at the idea of spending the week dressed like a flapper and speaking in a British Accent while wandering around a castle where they film my favorite television show.
(I mean, the costumes and accents aren’t actually part of the Groupon experience, I just felt like that would be a nice touch.)
And I was like “Don’t judge me, you only want to visit New Zealand because of Hobbits.”
Anyhow, for our destination trip we looked at some resorts in the Caribbean, but eventually narrowed it down to Groupon Getaways in Europe, so the decision is between A) Ireland, B) Tuscany C) Rome/Barcelona or D) London/Edinburgh
Have you traveled to any of those places? Where would you choose?
There are also plenty of local getaway experiences within driving distance that make getting away for a long weekend really budget friendly. I’m planning to have a fun Mommy/Daughter weekend away in the mountains with Scarlette and a few of my best girlfriends.
The nice thing about living where we do in the south is that we’re only a few hours drive from mountains or the beach! So I’m on the hunt for some family friendly activities for the little one.
