We decided to turn these old end tables into nightstands for the bedroom. They are solidly built, I just didn't think they were really our style. I didn't like the knobs or the bad paint job or the curly wood cut out pieces. Also, I thought they sort of looked like little robots. But they were free so I thought to myself "Self, you can make these suckers over easy!"
An hour an a half later the puppy was cowering in the corner of the garage, where I may or may not have been pseudo swearing while trying to pry the blasted decorative pieces of wood off of the front of these things.
Three hours of sanding, prying, painting and possibly throwing things later, and I was pretty pleased with the results. I need to get a piece of molding to fill in the empty space where the curlicues use to be and really I'd prefer it have one knob but that meant using power tools and I simply did not have the patience for such things today.
Here's the before shot, and then an after shot in the foyer, where I paused to take advantage of the good light. That's not true. I took the picture in the foyer because that sucker is heavy and I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to get any further than the foyer when I was carrying it up the stairs. Luckily for all of us, I did make it all the way up the stairs and took the final picture of it in the bedroom, complete with a candle to set the mood for y'all. I'm always thinking of you guys.
