I have this old brass lamp that belonged to one of my grandmothers. I'm sure that you are all really surprised that I own something that used to belong to one of my grandmothers. I love the details on this lamp but I wanted to use it in my studio (it's lame that I call it a studio, right?) and the brass didn't quite work.
I spray painted it white but decided it was too shiny. So I sanded down parts of the lamp and then rubbed it with a gray paint that I picked up from the Home Depot discard pile for a buck. I am happy to report that the gray paint gave it the softer, antique feel I was going for. I am sad to report that I rubbed a brass lamp and didn't get a single genie.
