Here’s a little peek at our living room makeover. This house needed a lot of love when we first moved in five years ago and we spent a lot of time patching and painting and ripping out floors. Then I got pregnant and then we had a preemie so our budget for home improvements was basically totally shot.
It’s just been this past year that I’ve been able to slowly start really working on the house again and home decor has been a really fun way for me to partner with brands and also honestly just incredibly helpful to my otherwise super meager decorating budget.
So here is what our living room looked like before:
It’s not “home decor blogger” finished but I am not a home decor blogger so that works out well for me. I could not handle that sort of pressure, y’all. Also, yes is the rug from my back porch, I still haven’t decided what actual rug I want to have in here.
Wayfair invited me to be one of their Homemaker bloggers (read: homemaker not home decorator, lol) and so they sent me two of the throw pillows and I purchased a third to fill out the blue couch. (That couch used to belong to my mother, so you might recognize it from here.) They sent me a coupon code to share with y’all, so from November 20 through November 24th you can take 15% off ANY Pillow, Pouf or Throw with the code WFPTP15
Here are the throw pillows I picked out:
I chose this anchor pillow, this polka dot pillow and this floral pillow.
I’m still looking for a few more more neutral ones to fill out the large brown couch. Brown couches are kind of hard to decorate around. I really wanted a white slip-covered couch but my husband fell in love with this brown one one account of how it reclines all the way back so I’m attempting to work with it. Because, you know, marriage. I really like these but he wasn’t so keen on so much floral. Eventually I’d like to add in some holiday pillows, because I love decorating for Christmas, but extraneous holiday throw pillows aren’t quite in the budget yet since I still need actual stairs put in one part of my house. Stairs are probably important. But these and these are way cuter than stairs. Not as practical, but cuter.
(Oh and that is not a reclaimed wood wall in the back. I am not that crafty. That’s part of the DIY backdrop I hung up for Scarlette’s birthday party pictures. Obviously I am very good at putting things away in a timely manner.)
Scarlette and I made a little video so you can sort of have a live tour. And by “Scarlette and I” I mean that I filmed a video while Scarlette jumped on the couch next to me the whole time. Of course.
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this campaign but I was provided with free product from Wayfair. All words, images and opinions are totally my own.
