This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Honest Company.I ordered my first set of products from The Honest Company (<- That’s my referral link) a few months back. I had gotten a sample of their body wash for babies in my Citrus Lane box and loved it. We are very particular about what products we use on Scarlette, partially because we’re THOSE people and partially because she has super sensitive preemie skin. If you look at Scarlette harshly she breaks out in a rash.
The Honest Company asked if I would like to try out some new products in exchange for hosting both a discount code and a giveaway for my readers. Then they said the giveaway was for a $500 gift card and I was a little tiny bit jealous of whichever one of you wins that thing. But I do sincerely hope it blesses one of y’all because A.) you can buy a lot of gifts with a $500 gift card and B.) I do honestly love their products. See what I did there?
We prefer to use natural products whenever we can. The problem with this is that I am allergic to citrus and break out in hives if I touch it. Do y’all know how hard it is to find non-citrus natural bath, body and cleaning products? So hard. Most of them have some sort of orange in them. (In fact, the body wash shown above does so we use that one on Scarlette
on the nights that Daddy does bath time Update: the new versions with tangerine don’t seem to give me a rash at all! Yay!)
I was really happy to find that they had plant-based lavender dish soap. It smells good, it isn’t citrus, and it actually cleans well. My favorite item is the bamboo dish soap brush with the ceramic dispenser. You fill the bottom of the dispenser with dish soap and there is a cute patterned spring-bottom in side that you can dip the brush in to load it with soap. It’s convenient and it looks SO MUCH NICER on my kitchen sink than the ugly scrubber brush that always ends up lying in the bottom of the sink because you don’t want to put it all drippy-wet on your counter.
I also like that The Honest Company’s bath and body products are natural, non-toxic and hypoallergenic. In addition having sensitive skin (both Scarlette AND me) I just prefer to have more natural ingredients in our products as I get older. It’s not my fault, Jeff made me watch Food Inc.
Anyhow, I really like the face and body lotion. It is not a cream, it’s definitely a lighter lotion. It feels a bit sticky when you first put it on and then dries into a soft, airy feel. Jeff likes it because he says that it is hard to find a natural lotion that doesn’t smell “too girly.” He came to this conclusion after I slathered lavender lotion on his back one night. I don’t know why he is complaining. It’s not like I put glitter lotion all over him or anything.
And Scarlette likes the toothpaste, which I just ordered because our last tube was on empty. Please note how she carefully studies the tube before deigning to put it on her toothbrush. It’s like she doesn’t trust me or something, which okay, maybe I DID tell her that her medicine was bubble gum drink but I was desperate y’all. Then she decides she likes the strawberry flavor and happily starts singing “I bwushing my teef on top, so fun I fink I’ll never shtop!”
That’s just cute. Also, please enjoy that one weird pigtail. Scarlette does.
They offer discounts when you bundle items together as part of their subscription service but I have never done that, actually. I’ve just always ordered individually. I have friends with larger families that swear by the subscription because they go through products faster than we do. You can do a free trial to test out the products though!
Now on to the fun for y’all!
