This is one of those times where I am reviewing a product that has some longevity in our house. We’ve been using Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® for diaper rashes since we brought Scarlette home from the hospital. We use the All Natural Boudreaux’s Butt Paste (which is the one in the green tube) because Scarlette’s skin is super sensitive and the diaper rash creams with beeswax in them seem to be the ones that work the best for her. We do cloth diapers and I’ve read that it can leave residue behind. We haven’t had that issue with it though, because we use bamboo liners which seem to keep the cream from migrating from bottom to cloth.
Our issues with diaper rash originally stemmed from preemie-skin. Micro-preemie babies still have raw nerve endings, which makes their skin super sensitive and the smallest amount of chafing creates a rash. As she grew older and we dealt with more and more GI issues, diaper rash accompanied their treatment while we worked to get her medication dosing right.
Diaper rash is just the worst. Our arsenal of defense mainly consists of a few tubes of All Natural Boudreaux’s Butt Paste and some fresh air for the booty. We have what we like to call “Nakey Baby Time” where we clean her up real good and then send her on her merry, nakey way. Then we’ll coat her bottom with Boudreaux’s Butt Paste before diapering. We also put a little calendula oil on her post bath, to keep down the irritation.
