Who doesn’t love Clinton Kelly? I mean the man gave us so much knowledge during his tenure on “What Not to Wear” he should get some sort of award. Like how sometimes actors get honorary degrees from legit educational institutions for making movies and stuff. It was from him that I learned to employ a structured jacket to make any outfit look seamlessly pulled-together. Thank you Clinton. And he taught us to accentuate the smallest part of our waist while making fashion “rules” easy to understand and apply to everyday life. The man is a fashion genius for all of us non-fashion savvy people.
Recently I was invited to a meet and greet with the man himself. I was a little excited and slightly anxious about picking out my ensemble for the event. My girlfriends, fellow “What Not to Wear” fans, were very jealous of my good fortune, and I get the impression that they are a still a little upset that a girls night with Clinton is not in our future. I mean, obviously Clinton and I became great friends and he is coming to my family Christmas dinner. But seriously, the event was held at Macy’s and if you have a chance to go, you totally should. It was free so my friend Gin and I braved Atlanta traffic to see him (and also, free drinks!)
He gave us some great tips about winter fashion trends, holiday attire and a quick preview of spring fashion. Plus I scored a copy of this:
(AND LOOK HOW CLOSE I WAS TO CLINTON KELLY!!)
And also? He was hilarious. Seriously, he was so funny in person. And he answered audience question and I thought he gave really great advice that was tailored to each person (no pun intended) (okay, pun totally intended) and also very easy to understand.
But back to the book: imagine the great fashion tips you have received from Clinton transferring to every part of your life. He covers décor, food, and of course style with a BUDGET in mind!”This line from his foreword should be enough to suck you in “Fabulousness has absolutely nothing to with money.” Amen, Clinton, Amen. This would make an awesome gift for the fashionistas in your life if you are still shopping five days before Christmas. Don’t worry. We all have one or two presents that are bought last minute. No judgment here. Or you can give this to yourself for being so awesome. It would be a great resource to ensure that your New Year’s Resolution to “Stop wearing Mom jeans” does not fall off the radar mid February.
Here is a short video from the event so you can sneek a peak and hear Clinton verify that a pencil skirt will never go out of style! Or you can follow #stylechat on twitter to join in on fashionable conversation!
