If you know me, you know that I own like, three necklaces. I am really picky about my silverware and my jewelry, y’all. This new trend of design-your-own-story-lockets just added a fourth to my rotation. It’s like the 2013 version of the charm bracelet and I love it. And I’m so blessed to have amazing blog supporters like Sandy of South Hill Designs, who sent me the one above and is also giving a gift certificate to one of my readers so that you can have one too!
You can see the locket I chose above. I picked the grace coin because that word encompasses the core of my faith and the typewriter to symbolize both my love of writing and a gentle push in the direction of my aspirations. The little cameo has no meaning other than the fact that I love cameos. I have a little collection of them that belonged to my grandmother. And the topaz is Scarlette’s birthstone.
I’ve seen other necklaces that added a few charms to the outside of the necklace as well and I wanted to do that to mine. I had that little resin flower in my scrapbooking stash and so I just superglued it to part of another broken necklace that I had and then attached it to my locket. This is why it is good to be a hoarder, because YES I WILL NEED THAT BROKEN NECKLACE ONE DAY, JEFF. I plan to add a little something to symbolize Jeff in my locket, since he puts up with said hoarding so patiently, but I have not yet decided if I want to do an initial or numerical dates. I’m very good at complicating things.
I also sprinkled a little bit of silver glitter inside my locket because I love silver glitter. I’m full of depth.
But seriously, I love this necklace. It suits my style, goes with pretty much everything I own and I get a ton of compliments on it. I mean, I’m a blogger so obviously I love validation. And because it’s like the charm bracelet of the future. I’m a girl who loves charm bracelets.
