I was offered a chance to try the new Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line and I was really excited about that. Olay products are a big hit around here; I’m well stocked on their sunless tanner. The Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line is one of the first acne lines made specifically for women. You know, those of us who are walking down the skin care aisle crying “I’M NOT SIXTEEN! WHERE ARE ACNE PRODUCTS FOR ME?!” Or maybe that’s just me.
Sadly, my sensitive, hormonal post-pregnancy skin was not the best testing ground so I opted to pass the opportunity on to my sister and see what she thought. I’m really generous like that, and also I kind of owed her for that time I may or may not have accidentally broken her Teddy Ruxpin. Plus, she got all the cute genes so she was happy to pose for me with just mascara on. I think I’m adopted.
We thought it’d be fun to pretend we were filming a skin care commercial because we’re awesome. First, we needed to clean the mirror. That’s when we discovered that my mother keeps the glass cleaner in a bottle labeled PLANT AND GARDEN FOOD. I’m not sure why she feels the need to disguise the contents of the household cleaners but it does explain why all of the indoor plants are dying.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for you) I don’t know how to cut together 4,728 takes of our “commercial” so here’s the transcript of my interview with my sister. It’s highly professional.

KA: Please state your name for the record:
MS: Marah Shaye.
KA: Motion to strike that from the record.
MS: Why would you strike that from the record?
KA: You’re out of order. No you’re out of order! This whole bathroom is out of order!
MS: That’s because mom keeps the glass cleaner in the plant food bottle.
KA: Whatever. Please tell the jury about the former state of your skin.
MS: Dry and irritated.
KA: What caused this irritation?
MS: Civil unrest. And also sleeping in my makeup.
KA: How excited were you when your totally awesome sister gave you the free Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line?
MS: Pretty sweet, I guess. Make sure you write down that I said that in a perfect Napoleon Dynamite Voice.
KA: I caught you a delicious bass. Okay seriously. This is serious stuff. Back to the interview. What was your favorite thing about the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line? Besides the fact that the name sounds all hardcore, like your tattoos.
MS: I am a big fan of the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Complexion Renewing Lotion. It hydrates really well without feeling oily. And it’s thick and creamy so you don’t have to use a lot of it. I do enjoy that.
KA: You sounded British when you said that.
MS: Did I? It was my best Kate Middleton.
KA: On a scale of one to ten with ten being the best acne product you’ve ever tried, how would you rate Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line?
MS: I’d give it a good ole’ nine. That’s solid.
KA: On a scale of ten, how would you rate my mad interviewing skillz?
MS: Twelve. Definitely. That’s not my sarcastic voice.
KA: Be totally honest. Would you tell your friends about Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line?
MS: Yes. I’ll probably tell them on facebook.
KA: Okay remember, you’re being totally honest, did you or did you not steal my black ruffle-y shirt from my closet?
MS: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
KA: You’re under oath!
MS: What? I’m not under oath.
KA: You want the truth! You can’t handle the truth! Okay, seriously. What else do you love about the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line?
MS: It has a clean, fresh scent. So basically, it’s so fresh and so clean, clean. And my face looks good enough to let you put my picture on the Internet with no makeup on.
KA: It really does. Smile, I’m going to take your picture now. <end transcript>
