I know I said I was going to write a funny story about Scarlette today. And I did, I wrote it all down and it was really funny.
But then I read it over again and decided that it was the sort of funny story that should stay in the family album instead of on the internet. That offline book is filling up faster and faster as she gets older and I navigate balancing my love of storytelling with her growing autonomy.
Because I don’t want to ever embarrass her on the internet, especially knowing that she will be growing up in a generation of web-savvy peers.
But I will definitely tell it at her wedding 😉
In the meantime, please enjoy this sweet picture of my cute girl on Mother’s Day, following having her dedicated at church.
(We did not have Scarlette dedicated at church when she was a baby, mostly on account of how the first few years of her life she was in quarantine. Plus that whole thing about how all my post-NICU trauma had me super freaked out about germs so leaving her in the nursery was really uncomfortable for me even long after we had the go-ahead from her doctor.)
(And then it took me quite a while to settle into a church.)
In typical Scarlette fashion, she yanked free of my hand and ran spritely across the stage to hug our pastor.
And then afterwards she said “MOMMY. I did SUCH a good job today. If you would like to get me a cookie I fink dat could be just fine.”
