The heart of my story centers on my journey to motherhood, the one in which I found myself joyfully pregnant after years of infertility only to then give birth unexpectedly at just 25 weeks. We named her Scarlette and she weighed one pound, eight ounces. It was most definitely not what I was expecting when I was expecting. I didn’t expect the 156 day NICU stay or the long term quarantine at home or that my motherhood would involved learning to force down a feeding tube and copious amounts of therapy but it has been every bit worth it. Now my days are filled with laughter (seriously, check out my Stuff Scarlette Says series if you need a giggle), laundry, and writing.
After our experience I am incredibly passionate about encouraging women to seek hope in every circumstance and that led me to write my first book, Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected. My birth story is found within its pages, bound up in the first chapter of the book which you can read for free here. I would love to share it with you.
