Guess who cut her first tooth last night? Her real first tooth, unlike that time 3 months ago when I took her to the doctor and was all “She has a tooth!” and then the doctor was like “Yeah, that’s not a tooth.”
Apparently, babies can get something called occlusions, which are little, hard, white calcium deposits located ON TOP OF THEIR GUMS but are not teeth. They should put stuff like that in the Book Of Random Information For First Time Moms. And then someone should give me that book.
Yesterday she was the most pitiful little thing. But she’s normally pretty cranky on Mondays, I think because her routine is all off track with Jeff having been home all weekend. He’d been home with us all of last week so I was expecting yesterday to be tough. It wasn’t until I put my finger in her mouth and she bit the heckfire out of me that I realized what the deal was. Then I was all “Oh hello, DRACULA.”
Actually I didn’t even realize it then. My first completely logical thought was that she’d broken off a piece of a toy in her mouth. I’m very rational and not at all panicky. It’s super easy to be married to me.
She’s not a fan of playing “LET MOMMY SEE YOUR NEW TOOTH YAAAAY!!!!!!!!” with me so it took about ten minutes to catch a glimpse of her pearly white. That’s also why there’s no “my first tooth!” photo to go along with this post. Instead, you get “I’m trying to cut teeth here woman. It’s totally miserable. Why would I smile about that? Stop taking pictures with your cell phone and let me chew on it.”
Milestone: September 19, 2011. Ten and a half months old. First tooth.
Here is some preemie info, because I find stuff like this interesting: she can’t have any teething tablets/gel because while she’s off the medication, her blood pressure is still on the cusp and something in them effects that. She also can’t have anything herbal in her digestive system. She is allowed Baby Tylenol, but I have to cut the infant dose in half because of her liver issues. So that doesn’t help a bunch. She doesn’t seem to be a fan of any of her teething toys so I’m hoping this frozen washcloth works. Any other suggestions? Thanks 🙂
